\nA Historic Achievement for the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal<\/strong><\/h6>\n
\u00a0In 2010 \u00c9cole Socrates-D\u00e9mosth\u00e8ne established its now infamous Eight-year 10-Objective Development Plan. Most of the objectives have been attained but one, that kept eluding us for more than thirty years \u2013 the securing of a high school permit. Not any more!<\/p>\n

We are extremely pleased and proud to announce that the Ministry of Education (MELS), has awarded \u00c9cole Socrates-D\u00e9mosth\u00e8ne of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal (HCGM), its first ever high school permit, to go along with our preschool and primary school permits.<\/p>\n

This is a monumental achievement for our organisation but more importantly for our Youth. It was by no means easy to finally secure this permit. The HCGM had to present a perfectly developed spotless application to MELS on three fronts: academics, facilities and finances.<\/p>\n

A lot of dedicated staff worked countless hours to assure the successful outcome: we sincerely thank them. And once more, we are very grateful for the wonderful support of local MNA Gerry Sklavounos and his office gave this file, prioritizing it in front of the Minister of Education and the Quebec Government.<\/p>\n

The high school permit will complete our mission of assuring that youth of Greek origin, here in the Greater Montreal area will have the best, most comprehensive trilingual program, of the highest level available to them from their early daycare years right through to college.<\/p>\n

The high school will be housed at SOC II, in Montreal on Wilderton Avenue, in an unused part of the 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0floor. Several classrooms will be allocated to the high school, as well as gymnasium time, a new science lab, library hours, a student lounge and so much more.<\/p>\n

Tuition fees will be reasonable and along the lines of our primary school. Bus service will also be available as an option similar to what exists for Socrates-Demosthenes currently. Of-course the high school will have a full range of services and extra-curricular activities available to students.<\/p>\n
