{"id":14384,"date":"2015-03-17T13:37:36","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T17:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/le-temps-des-fleurs-le-temps-des-neiges-2\/"},"modified":"2015-04-14T16:30:32","modified_gmt":"2015-04-14T20:30:32","slug":"le-temps-des-fleurs-le-temps-des-neiges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socdem.org\/en\/le-temps-des-fleurs-le-temps-des-neiges\/","title":{"rendered":"Our students participate in &#8220;Le temps des fleurs, le temps des neiges&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-14372\" title=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.socdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.socdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 0.75em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6>On February 24, 2015, at the Hellenic Community Centre Adrian Maris, a choir of 350 elementary students, including 33 students from\u00a0<strong>\u00c9cole Socrates D\u00e9mosth\u00e8nes<\/strong>\u00a0offered to the media and the public, a musical preview of\u00a0<em>Le Temps des fleurs, le temps des neiges<\/em>, a retelling of the ancient Greek myth of the goddess Demeter, her daughter Persephone and how the seasons came to be.<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"2\" src=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"791\" height=\"489\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<h6>They were accompanied by 55 musicians of the Orchestre symphonique Pop de Montreal, an opportunity made possible through financial support from the Hellenic Congress of Quebec. \u00a0The author, Glen Huser, and the composer, Giannis Georgantelis were also present, along with many dignitaries, including Dimitrios Jim Beis, Borough Mayor for Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Mary Deros, Montreal City Councilor for Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension.<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"523\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Le Temps des fleurs, le temps des neige<\/em>\u00a0is scheduled to be launched in Autumn 2015. The book and CD is being produced by Chroma Musika (Dimitris Ilias and Maria Diamantis) and Panarmonia Atelier Musical, in collaboration with Quebec-based book publisher, Plan\u00e8te Rebelle.\u00a0 The Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal is an important partner in this project, providing space for auditions and rehearsals.<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"4\" src=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"876\" height=\"584\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis is our sixth musical collaboration with Chroma Musika. Students from \u00c9cole Socrates D\u00e9mosth\u00e8nes have been a part of every choir since they began producing children&#8217;s books and CDs in 2007.<\/h6>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/socdem.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/5-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<p><strong>\u201cMusic gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Plato<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6>Proceeds from the sale of the book and CD will be used by the participating schools to promote music education and creative writing.
