High School Teacher (Full-Time)
French – Social Studies

Description:
École Socrates-Démosthène is seeking a full-time high school teacher to teach all mandatory subjects in the French curriculum at the secondary level, as outlined by the Quebec Ministry of Education (MEQ), as well as Social Studies courses. The language of instruction is French. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of students’ linguistic, literary, and cultural competencies, while fostering their appreciation for the French language and literature.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and teach French courses, including reading, writing, oral communication, and literary analysis.

Design diverse and engaging educational activities aligned with the Quebec school curriculum.

Assess student learning using tools that meet ministry standards.
-
Encourage student expression and creativity through engaging assignments and projects.
-
Support struggling students by adapting teaching methods and collaborating with specialists (special education teachers, counselors, etc.).
-
Contribute to the planning and implementation of academic, extracurricular, and cultural activities.
-
Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to ensure student success and well-being.
Requirements:
-
University degree in French education or literature with a recognized teaching certificate in Quebec.

Quebec teaching license issued by the Ministry of Education (or in the process of obtaining it).

Excellent command of spoken and written French.

Ability to teach students with diverse learning profiles and to inspire interest in language and literature.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Assets:

Experience teaching at the secondary level in Quebec.

Familiarity with educational technology tools (e.g., interactive whiteboards, online platforms).

Interest in modern teaching methods (e.g., differentiated instruction, project-based learning).

Ability to organize cultural activities (e.g., theater outings, poetry contests).

École Socrates-Démosthène is seeking a part-time high school teacher to teach the Quebec Culture and Citizenship program and the Visual Arts program as set by the Ministry of Education of Quebec (MEQ). The language of instruction is French. The teacher will support the intellectual, social, and emotional development of students while fostering a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
For Quebec Culture and Citizenship (CCQ):

Plan, prepare, and deliver CCQ courses based on the learning progression.

Develop authentic and meaningful learning situations.
-
Foster critical thinking and ethical judgment in students.
-
Use diverse teaching methods (debates, projects, case studies, etc.).
-
Assess student learning according to the program’s evaluation criteria.
Citizenship Skill Development:
-
Help students understand contemporary issues in Quebec and the world.
-
Promote respect for cultural and religious diversity.
-
Encourage civic engagement and democratic participation.
-
Promote the values of justice, equality, and human rights.
-
Foster intercultural dialogue and critical thinking.
For Visual Arts:
-
Plan and lead art classes in line with curriculum competencies.

Introduce students to various techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, digital art, etc.).

Design creative projects that encourage personal expression.

Introduce students to art history and the analysis of artworks.

Evaluate artistic productions using clear pedagogical criteria.

Safely and efficiently manage classroom materials and environment.

Participate in the school’s cultural life (exhibits, artistic events, interdisciplinary projects).
Requirements:

University degree in education or a related field recognized in Quebec.

Valid teaching license issued by the Ministry of Education of Quebec (or in progress).

Strong background in visual arts and pedagogy.
-
Creativity, enthusiasm, and innovation.

Ability to motivate and support students with diverse learning profiles.

Skill in managing both classroom and art studio environments safely.

Team spirit and collaboration with school staff.
Assets:

Experience teaching at the secondary level or in a Quebec school environment.

First aid or CPR certification.

Interest in innovative teaching approaches.
