École Socrates-Démosthène is seeking a full-time elementary-level teacher to deliver the physical education program mandated by the MEQ. The language of instruction is French. Your mission will be to support the intellectual, social, and emotional development of students while fostering a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver physical education classes in accordance with the Québec Education Program.

  • Promote healthy lifestyle habits, including physical activity, nutrition, and mental well-being.

  • Encourage the active participation of all students by adapting activities to diverse needs.

  • Teach and instill values such as respect, teamwork, and fair play.

  • Ensure a safe environment during physical activities by following current safety standards.

  • Assess students’ performance using observations, practical tests, and other evaluation tools.

  • Participate in school sports events, such as competitions and physical activity days.

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, parents, and administration to support students’ overall development.

Requirements:

  • University degree in physical education teaching or a related field recognized in Québec.

  • Valid teaching license issued by the Québec Ministry of Education (or in the process of obtaining it).

  • Knowledge of the Québec educational program in physical education and health.

  • Ability to work with students of varying motor skill levels.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to adopt an active lifestyle.

Assets:

  • Experience teaching at the elementary level or in a Québec school environment.

  • First aid or CPR certification.

  • Interest in innovative teaching methods in physical education (active pedagogy, game-based learning, etc.).

  • Experience organizing sports events or extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and teach French courses, including reading, writing, oral communication, and literary analysis.

  • Design diverse and engaging educational activities aligned with the Quebec school curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

For Quebec Culture and Citizenship (CCQ):

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver CCQ courses based on the learning progression.

  • Develop authentic and meaningful learning situations.

  • Foster critical thinking and ethical judgment in students.

  • Use diverse teaching methods (debates, projects, case studies, etc.).

  • Assess student learning according to the program’s evaluation criteria.

Citizenship Skill Development:

  • Help students understand contemporary issues in Quebec and the world.

  • Promote respect for cultural and religious diversity.
