Dear Parents and Friends,

As our School prepares for the reopening on May 25, 2020, we would like to inform you that École Socrates-Démosthène is leaving no stone unturned to assure the safest possible environment respecting all Santé publique guidelines and MÉES directives for our students that will be returning. To ensure the social distancing safety measure, a maximum of 15 students will be permitted per classroom.

The Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal has invested heavily in equipment and supplies in accordance with health protocols. Personal protective equipment (PPE) has arrived for staff. Protective barriers have gone up. On top of the sanitizers and disinfectants that we had in all our campuses prior to the closure, more have been received. New signage is being installed, including distancing and directional markers. Staff is coordinating bathroom usage, circulation in corridors and staircases. They are also organizing recreation and lunch periods to assure safety measures are respected. Special attention will be given to arrivals and departures. And our maintenance staff will be continually disinfecting once we reopen our campuses.

The Assembly Room (informally known as the Mikri Vouli), at the Head Office of the HCGM has been transformed in a storage area for all supplies and equipment prior to separating and shipping them to the campuses. Note the photos above.

At the same time we are re-organizing and upgrading our technical equipment in all our campuses to permit our educators to better reach and work with our students that will remain home, including our high school students. Every student in our School, whether in class or at home is a priority for all of us.

We would like to thank our teachers, support staff and principals for their wonderful work and dedication during this crisis and take this opportunity to also thank the incredible individuals working behind the scenes including the HCGM essential service staff and the Board Of Directors for their precious support.

Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the two documents of importance below for your review.

Together, we will get through this!

The Director General,

Chris Adamopoulos
