All the students of Demosthenes showed great creativity in preparing to celebrate Easter. The group above has produced some wonderful icons. Kindergarten children happily participated in one of the many Greek traditions that usually take place during Holy Week.
Normally  Holy Thursday is the day when children all over Greece soak eggs in red food coloring. Used as a table decoration, red eggs are the key element in a traditional Greek game called tsougrisma (τσούγκρισμα = crack). “The custom takes place after the Resurrection (at midnight on Holy Saturday, the eve of Easter). Each participant chooses their egg from a basket. The first one holds his egg while the other, also with his egg, hits his neighbor’s, trying to crack it and saying ‘Christos anesti’! (= Christ is risen). The other then responds “Alithos Anesti” (= Indeed he is risen), and so on all around the table. The winner is the one who, among all the guests, managed to keep his egg intact. They say he will be lucky all year round! They even play tsougrisma, a traditional Greek game, after the resurrection of Christ. ” https://lepetitjournal.com/athenes/tsougrisma-le-jeu-des-oeufs-rouges-de-paques-en-grece-59755

Children from other grades also prepared for Easter by creating candles …

… and letters with drawings for their parents …
… and  oranges perforated with cloves …
… and other great works of art!
Covid obliged the priest to  come to the campus. We got together for a very special Easter blessing.
What a great week!
