The Agapi Marathon of the Hellenic Ladies Volunteers (HBLS) took place on November 19th. HLBS works consistently for those less fortunate in our community. Like every year, the students of École Socrates-Démosthène participate with joy in this wonderful cause by giving generously.

One of our goals is to transmit to our students the values of sharing, compassion and mutual aid. It is in this sense that the free dress day of November 17th was dedicated to the Agapi Marathon.

Students Zoe Lazares, Konstantinos Assimakopoulos, Vassilios Kalogiannis and Christos Houbavlis represented École Socrates-Démosthène by bringing a check for $2,300 collected from all their classmates at all levels.

Many of you also tuned into radio CFBM to give generously to this important fundraiser. Your children proudly follow in your footsteps.

Belle Grivakis and Viola Vathilakis, the co-presidents of the event, did a fabulous job of organizing. We would like to thank them warmly, as well as the Hellenic Ladies Volunteers (HLBS). Without these big-hearted ladies, none of this would have happened.

The Marathon received the visit of Dr. George Tsoukas, President of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal and Honorary President of the Agapi Marathon, as well as Mr. Chris Adamopoulos, Director General of École Socrates-Démosthène. Congratulations to all those who those who were able, directly or indirectly, to make this event a success.

See you next year!
